Principles and Ideas - Data Provenance

The provenance of any data or information in general is the source from which it was generated and the process that has been used in its generation.
In an evidence or fact-based system, it is required to submit the provenance of the information as requested by the authorized person. This is the way to present the validity of the information.
The system should also present the protocols used at the lowest possible physical level. In the case where an IT tool has been used, it should be able to show, for example, the algorithm -and even the script- used to obtain the data.
