The scope of the project includes private and public entities, research centers, hospitals, associations, foundations, pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies that provide biobank services.
A biobank, or bio-repository, refers to an entity that collects, stores, processes and distributes biological material and associated data.
The main external service of a biobank is to provide biological samples to researchers, both internal and external in relation to the entity that manages the biobank, as well as associated data.
The main internal processes of a biobank, in relation to the information system, are quality assurance, consistency and integrity of information, as well the security and privacy assurance.
